On Sunday, has missed Nikolas Fricke, exceptionally, the scene of the crime. He is a lecturer for sustainability in the factory district, and takes care of the flock of sheep, for two years, on the roof of the building Werk3 browsing. And got, of all things, at the time when Fricke is sitting normally on the Sofa – young. Three, all male sheep, of which none has a name. Triplets were also in sheep is quite unusual, says Fricke. And not entirely unproblematic: Usually a sheep weighs in at birth between four and five kilograms. The three high-rise lambs, but just about 3.5 kg on the scales. Ensure you must do not: The three look a little staksig, but like all sheep they were right after the birth on their own two feet. They don’t get the bottle, but to be nourished by mother’s milk.

To have their Mama sheep is a big commitment. “You can remember your whole life,” says Fricke, who operates a large farm on the Starnberger see, a sheep. So much the worse it is, if the animals from their mothers need to disconnect: “you are bleating and looking around.” However, to avoid inbreeding, can’t stay the triplets your whole life on the roof at the Ostbahnhof. In about half a year, they are separated from the herd.

Eleven of the Valais black-nose sheep currently live in the roof garden. The type is rare, says Fricke. Originally, they were bred to live in the mountains in the upper Valais in the South of Switzerland. Adapted to the barren life in the mountains, they are particularly frugal and don’t need much food, but at the same time they give less and less wool, and less meat than other sheep. Therefore, they would not be a breeder in the normal way, not very interesting, says Fricke. Personally he treasures you, however: “they exude an incredible calm.”

Just so you can not visit the sheep at the Ostbahnhof. About twice a week, school classes come to the roof, to learn about sustainability. All other Interested parties need to make a tour through the factory district area. The next time the lambs should be grown, but probably a good step: it will be held on Friday, 22. March, instead.
