Alexis Beka Beka, professional player for OGC Nice, threatened to commit suicide this Friday morning. The 22-year-old defensive midfielder, not yet used this season with the Riviera club, was preparing to throw himself into the void.
According to information from France Bleu Azur, Beka Beka climbed onto the Magnan viaduct at 10:30 this morning, on the A8 motorway. Traffic was stopped near the bridge, as the player overlooked a 110 meter high void.
After the arrival of emergency services and long negotiations with a psychologist from the gendarmerie, the player finally returned to safety, around 1:30 p.m. OGC Nice had notably dispatched a psychologist.
The Nice club has announced that it is postponing a press conference, originally scheduled for this afternoon.
