Ieper, Stefaan Vanoplynes (32) from Ypres is a crowdfunding platform launched to the future of Leeuwentoren, an offside that he, last summer, has developed, to ensure. The teacher spent last summer two hundred copies on the market, and there are already 160 sold. He now wants a new load of produce in a more environmentally friendly type of wood, and hopes that Leeuwentoren as well known as Kubb and boules.
Stefaan Vanoplynes is the inventor of the offside Leeuwentoren. That game is a mix of Kubb and boules. The name refers to the stone Leeuwentoren on the Ypres ramparts. Stefaan, who teaches at the sixth grade of the public school Sint Michiels in Ypres, came up with the idea for the game during a walk with his son. The game consists of eighteen cylinders, two discs, six balls and two afstandsstokjes. The aim is to Leeuwentoren to conquer. “You do that by first of all the infantry your opponent knock over skittles with a cannonball,” explains the author. “After contact with 35 houtdraaiers and two industrial houtdraaiers came the cost of 85 euro.
