the zoo Keeper and responsible for the collection of poisonous snakes in Randers Rainforest Kristian Sørensen is not at all surprised that the police on Tuesday found 45 of the world’s most dangerous poisonous snakes, which was illegally kept in different locations on Zealand and Lolland.
indeed, There is in his view no connection between the crime and the punishment, as the snake-enthusiasts actually likely to get, if they are discovered.
Typically, every night there are between 5000 and 10,000 dollars in fines, and it is so little that it after Kristian Sørensen’s view, the delete does not discourage people from, for example, to go to Germany or Sweden, where you can buy the poisonous snakes on the reptilmesser.
– With the border control, that is, it is no problem to put a hose under a framework Slotspilsnere, when you are on the shopping trip to Germany. I know that people do. I have even been on the world’s largest reptilmesse in German Hamm, where I see the danes buy rattlesnakes to 30 euro apiece, says Kristian Sørensen to Ekstra Bladet.
Kristian Sørensen is one of a handful of slangeeksperter, as the police in Denmark use when they encounter snakes, there must artsbestemmes. He was already contacted in January with a message about the impending action, which on Tuesday led to the four men was charged with violation of Dyreværnsloven.
Police found in a co-ordinated action 45 of the world’s most toxic snakes, distributed in four locations in Rødovre, Roskilde, Rødby and Nakskov.
Kristian Sørensen says that, among other things, were seized rattlesnakes, Gabonslanger, chinese kongekobraer and also copies of the world’s most toxic snake, indlandstaipanen.

It is so toxic that there is enough neurotoxin in its bite that 100 people may lose their lives if the poison was distributed in them.
And then you become bitten, you die, according to Kristian Sørensen.
– There is not the time to retrieve the antidote. The closest place with an antidote is giftdepotet in Stockholm. You are dead before the antidote, he says to Ekstra Bladet.
the Snake is along with a number of other eksmplarer so toxic that Kristian Sørensen believes that one should put the penalty significantly in the weather. As it is now, discourages the fine not the clientele that can find to keep them.
– It may surprise me to risk at least a one-year unconditional prison sentence for being in possession of a skarpladt gun, when you only get a fine for keeping a snake that can potentially wipe out an entire block of flats, says Kristian Sørensen.
He knows the examples that people have kept the poisonous snakes in a terrarium, which alone has had the newsprint. Even in an apartment close to a kindergarten.
– Think you if such a hose release loose and hiding out in the sandbox in kindergarten, says Kristan Sørensen.
It was in 2003, that introduced the ban in Denmark against keeping poisonous snakes, unless you have permission to do so. Only a very few sought the permission at the time. People were, according to Kristian Sørensen afraid to get refusal. It would give the authorities tips on where there were dangerous snakes.

It is according to Kristian Sørensen is also the reason why there still are many, who unlawfully keep snakes.
The seized snakes are all driven to a terrarium on the island of Funen, in the course of Tuesday. Wednesday it is supposed that they will be distributed to the zoos.
Kristian Sørensen says, it certainly becomes necessary to kill more of the snakes. There is simply no space in the zoos for them.
There are, however, some of the hoses, which are interesting for the Randers Rainforest.
I have been told that there are some chinese kongekobraer. It is the world’s largest giftslange, there are up to five metres long. They are so majestic. And then we have in Randers some gabonvipers. But they are young. There is seized some adult specimens. We already have the terrarium for them, ” says Karsten Sørensen.
