Sony has been boasting for many years that it has in its catalog some of the on-ear headphones with the best noise cancellation and audio quality on the market. But its price is not very suitable for all budgets.

Giving an interesting twist to its strategy and seeking to attract a younger audience (although suitable for any age), the Japanese firm has recently presented its new family of sound equipment, ULT, very focused on the latest technology and above all on squeezing maximum bass.

Within this new family, the Sony ULT Wear headphones stand out, a device very similar in appearance to the powerful WH-1000XM5 but very focused on enhancing the bass and offering a more affordable device.

Specifically, the new ULT Wear from Sony have a button called ULT, which is what differentiates them from the rest of the firm’s headphones and which also carry the rest of the equipment in the ULT family (speakers). By pressing this button in songs where the bass is powerful, the change in the sound is very evident, greatly improving listening.

Sony achieves this effect through software, using the V1 processor that integrates the equipment, and without distortions. The process is simple as you do not have to make any modifications to any application, just press the headset button once or twice, depending on the bass power you want, and that’s it.

This is a function very focused on music-loving users (techno, for example) who seek to enhance the bass, since in the vast majority of songs the change that is noticed will not be very substantial or will even modify the song. original, so it is better to have it disabled.

Likewise, if you want to customize this button with the desired bass level, it can be done easily from the app.

Next to the ULT button, Sony has placed the traditional noise cancellation or ambient sound button. Unlike the ULT, the noise cancellation one is worth having activated to listen to all types of music if you do not want interruptions, as it completely isolates the user with a cancellation that is similar to that of its most premium headphones.

In short, in the audio section they pass with good marks and are positioned as a great option for the price they have.

Another strong point of the new ULT Wear is its autonomy and its design. As we said at the beginning, they boast a design very similar to that of their older brothers, boasting of being a very comfortable device with which to spend a good part of the day without ending up weighing down or bothering the ears.

As for the battery, I have to say that I was very surprised by the number of hours they last. According to Sony, 30 hours with noise cancellation or ambient sound activated and 50 hours without them.

The new Sony ULT Wear are now on sale for 199 euros.
