The Mancunians’ Dutch coach, Erik ten Hag, confirmed in a press conference on Friday, before the club’s official announcement, the arrival of Sergio Reguilon: “Sergio is here, he has trained, and he is available for the trip to Arsenal on Sunday in the league”.
The Red Devils have brought in the 26-year-old Spain international to fill a void at left-back. Regular starter Luke Shaw, injured, will be sidelined for ten weeks, according to the Daily Mail, and understudy Tyrell Malacia, also in the infirmary, has not played this season.
Reguilon is under contract with Tottenham, who already loaned him last season to Atlético Madrid, where he played little (11 La Liga matches) due to several injuries and competition.
“He’s got a lot of experience, he’s played for big clubs, a lot of La Liga and Premier League games,” added ten Hag, before concluding: “We had problems with Shaw and Malacia and I think we reacted very well to this emergency”.
The Red Devils will be active until the last minute of the transfer window this Friday. According to several English media, the Mancunian management has reached an agreement with Fiorentina to recover Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, via a one-season loan with an option to buy.
