In the two years it was back and forth between three different clubs.
After barely six months in the Seminary, the king Gustav Engvall, 22, found the right.
– It will forward the elderly gentlemen after a couple of beers and say that I am the new Klas and Kennet, says the striker.
After playing through the first as 16-year-old in the U-world CUP and then as 18-year-old in the Swedish allsvenskan IFK Göteborg were sold to Gustav Engvall to Bristol City.
It was two years of commuting between Bristol, Djurgården and IFK Göteborg.
Since the summer belongs to the striker Mechelen in the belgian second division and feel that the pieces of the puzzle have fallen into place.

– The click good. I enjoy my work, both on the pitch and life outside. It was important that it was right after that I ended up wrong with the Bristol. I didn’t make that mistake again, ” says Engvall to Sportbladet.
What was wrong with Bristol?
– It went very quickly when I jumped on it. But with the benefit of hindsight, I had done it again if I’m in the same situation. Even if it did not go so well on the pitch so it was a very good experience. I learned a lot, and I have also been with me a mental strength.
was responsible for 13 points so far
– It was a very special time in the two years. Many different answers and then play the matches for quick decision making and damage on it.
In 18 games with Mechelen in the league and cup games has Engvall was responsible for eight goals and five assists.
– I is clearly satisfied. I have produced good, despite the fact that there have been some races also. For now I’ll just run ahead and get into it even more.
Why did you end up in Mechelen?
– Per (Jonsson), my agent, explained how hard Mechelen pressed for that they wanted me, they believed me, there would be good chances to play. I talked with my family and we came to the conclusion that I am still young, and I really need to play matches. When needed it not be wrong to move to belgian second division, no matter how strange it sounds. I talked also with the coach and sporting director in Mechelen.
it Is not to take a step down to the belgian second division from the Championship and maybe even the allsvenskan?
– I do not like it. Mechelen is a great team in Belgium and going back to the european headquarters and there are good chances that I get to be on a good trip.
– It’s not that I’m playing in front of 500 people in a small boring arena. It is full pressure, 15 000 spectators and close packed in most of the matches. You don’t feel that it is a andraliga.
Flattering comparison
– I play in a team that may bring the matches, we have the ball a lot and win often and play a football that suits me as a striker. But I see myself also as a player who belongs in a förstaliga and I hope and think of course that we go up also, ” says Engvall.
How have you been received by fans?
– In a good way. They have started to sing my name. It is very fun.
Mechelen won the cup winners ‘ cup in 1988, has had big Swedish profiles in the team. In the beginning of the 1990s played Kennet Andersson and Klas Ingesson together in Mechelen for a couple of years.

– There have been some older belgian gentlemen who, after a number of beers inside the vest come up to me after the games and said that I am a new Kennet and Klas. Then I said to them that they can take it easy and slow on the slopes.
– It’s fun to be connected together with Kennet Andersson and Klas Ingesson, but I have a good bit left to their level.
How is life at the side of the football?
– I and Amanda (Franzén, his girlfriend) live in a three-room apartment with large balcony overlooking one of the canals in the centre of Mechelen. We have 20 minutes to Brussels, two hours to Amsterdam or Paris by train. You can really do a lot of things.
Keeps track of the Dif and Ifk
– It feels like we have found a calmness, a sense of security after living in a suitcase in two years time. The contract is for 2+2 years.
– One of the lagkamraterna and I was selected by the club to be featured in advertisements for clothing. We got to be models, Igor de Camargo and I am. So it has been a nice start. The club likes both that I make goals and takes care of my appearance, haha.
What is the best thing about Belgium?
– It’s a damn small country! It is never more than a maximum of two hours to an away match. We do not need to go and stay in a hotel the night before. You can be at home a lot and have time for anything else.
the Food…?
– okay on the places we go to. During the summer it was full of pavement cafés and the many who sat and ate moules frites (mussels and fries).
do you Eat it too?
– I have not tested that yet but need to do it. I think it’s okay with mussels, but I have enough difficult to press in me 30 of them, ” says Engvall.
do you Keep track of what’s happening in the IFK Göteborg and Djurgården?
– Absolutely. I checked the allsvenskan as much as I could when it does not clash with our own matches or trainings. We are some Djurgårdenspelare – Jacob Une-Larsson, Jesper Karlström, Felix Beijmo, Nerobet and some that have a snapchatgrupp where we tjötar a little sometimes.
– From the Blue and I have a lot of contact with Emil (Salomonsson) and Pontus Dahlberg, that I talk very much with.
Dahlberg visited you in Belgium?
– No, he claims to not have time with it. He is hanging out in London and go on the fine restaurants. It is we who go to his home in London instead.
What do you know about Mats Gren was fired as director of sports of IFK Göteborg?
– It is such a football is. Clubs come and go not only the players but also the leaders and people of the boards. The fights we had, we have put behind us. I wish him the best of luck with it he is going to do in the future.
