The forestry commission in the Netherlands this morning started with the shooting of red deer in the Oostvaardersplassen. The court determined last week that the deer are killed may be the population of animals in the nature reserve to bring back. It is intended that, in total, 490 red deer remain. More than 1,800 animals will be shot. Five associations were to the court stepped to prevent that.
According to the Forestry commission aims to achieve a balanced ratio between male and female animals in the group of red deer that is left over. Because there are significantly more female animals than male animals in the field of life especially hinds killed. The shot animals are partly used for human consumption. A part of the dead animals remains in the field behind as food for other animals. The rest is destroyed.

In the area, last winter was almost 60 per cent of the red deer by hunger, died. That led to much outrage. Therefore, it wants the province to intervene and the foresters of the Forestry commission 1.830 red deer let chances. Above the area is a temporary no-fly zone was declared.
