Gent is A hand-blown bottle is the new landmark of the Design Museum, but it mainly is what is in it, but that is a bit bizarre. Two Dutch artists caught namely, the body odor of 100 inhabitants of the Ghent district Rabot and distilleerden that to a perfume: ‘the Essence of the Rabot’.
The Amsterdam artists Yeb Wiersma and Lieneke Hulshof had 100 different residents of the Rabot a long day a T-shirt to wear. It went to ‘Rabotiens’ all started: from lawyers to drug dealers or builders. They were on 6 October the Sint-Jozefkerk a T-shirt handed them a whole day and night had to wear. Students went with them to the lesson, lawyers wore under their gowns during the advocate, and so on. The day after they lost all one hundred of the shirts in the Turkish parfumeriezaak Eyfel. That happened in a vacuümzak to the aroma’s good to keep it. A number of shirts was spot treated already in a device. The rest happened in Amsterdam, in the ateliers of the artists.
Some media reported proudly that they seksferomonen had added to our perfume
Yeb and Lieneke
From the T-shirts were pheromones distilled. That are molecules from the body are released when people meet each other. They are a sign of emotions such as anxiety, euphoria, sexual arousal, recognition, friendship, threat, and so on. The human body, these virtually odourless substances are released to inform others about his or her state of mind. “Some carriers reported proudly that they seksferomonen had added to our perfume”, laugh, the artists.
Yeb and Lieneke showed everyone what kind of activities do they have during that day, on memorial day, and how they had felt. “We smoking, of course, also the shirts. Sometimes they smoke sour, to eat, to deodorant,…” and Yet the ‘perfume’ in the bottle is not strong stuff. After the distillation there remains no odor. There was alcohol added to the emulsion.
