Ostend, The Flemish region has the green light to work on the car park under the seafront to resume. Condition is that the licence is to be built. Mayor Bart Tommelein (Open Vld), stresses that the city in the meantime verderzoekt to a more aesthetic solution for the elevator building right in front of the apartment of Elsie Achtergaele (60).
14 december 2018, the city and the immediate cessation of the work on the access building of the car park on the Albert I-promenade, between the Kursaal and the Zeeheldenplein. The work occurred not in accordance with the license which was granted in October 2017. The cutouts for the vents were located on the side instead of in the roof, and the elevator building was 22 inches high.
Client Castelein served, then an application to the Flemish department of Environment for the work to resume. “The light is now green for the work to continue, but only on the condition that it is built according to the permit. The yard is now released”, the cabinet of the mayor, Tommelein know. “No one benefits from lengthy procedures which makes the yard for months or years untouched. In addition, should the car park by the summer finished and accessible,” adds alderman of Spatial Planning Kurt Claeys (Open Vld).
