The Paris Book Festival, held near the Eiffel Tower and other locations in the capital, attracted 103,000 visitors from Friday to Sunday. A record in this new format launched in 2022 to replace the Book Fair. Nearly half of them under 25 announced its organizers. Located for the third time at the ephemeral Grand Palais, before moving to the Grand Palais in April 2025 after its reopening following work, this year this event had Quebec, the French-speaking province of Canada, as guest of honor.
Of the 103,000 visitors, 45% were under the age of 25, while the purchase of books increased by 6%, the organizers further indicated. The Paris Book Festival attracted 102,000 visitors in April 2023. Among the highlights of this edition, the “Grande Dictée des Jeux” organized on the Champ de Mars with three spelling tests, on the themes “faster”, “higher” and “stronger”, 100 days before the Paris Olympics.
The event succeeded in 2022 the Paris Book Fair, created in 1981 and which no longer corresponded to the wishes of several publishers because of its gigantism at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, an immense exhibition center. The last of the 39 editions under the old format attracted 160,000 visitors in March 2019.
