More Sport Gymnast Nina Derwael in the Brussels town hall, the National Trophy for Sportverdienste received from the hands of princess Astrid. The eighteen-year-old Limburg wrote at the beginning of november of sporting history by being the first Belgian gymnast world champion.
Derwael was in Doha champion on to the bridge with uneven shelves. She was also in Qatar, and is also fourth in the allroundcompetitie and fourth on the beam. In August extended the 18-year-old Truiense at the european CHAMPIONSHIPS in Glasgow all her European title to the bridge and she won the silver medal on the beam.
For Derwael it is this fall is her third award. They previously won the Flemish Giant (a trophy from the Flemish sportpers) and the Flemish Sportjuweel (a prize of the Flemish community). Last year, Derwael even though the Flemish Giant after her European title and a world CHAMPIONSHIP bronze to the bridge.
The National Trophy for Sportverdienste awards since 1928, is a Belgian athlete or sports team in the past year especially meritorious. The prestigious award can be only one time in a career to be won. A jury of (old)sportkampioenen choose the winner. Last year, the trophy to tennis player David Goffin. In 2016, it won meerkampster Nafi Thiam.
