Cyclocross, Mathieu van der Poel has with the Scheldecross at Antwerp’s Left bank the fourth round of the DVV Verzekeringen Trophy won. The European champion has performed as a soloist to victory, and approaching so in the standings on the leader Toon Aerts, who finished third. Wout van Aert finished second.

Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert were there after a long stay on stage in Spain again. The world champion got on the beach of Sint-Anneke, a cross perhaps it is. “My internship has already virtue done. I hope that the gap with Van der Poel is smaller and that I fight can deliver,” sounded the advance at Van Aert.

That fight was not there. Van der Poel thought after twenty minutes of course time. The Dutchman picked off with a scorching demarrage, no one had an answer in the house. The bird was going to fly. The stage has changed little: the hierarchy remains the same.

Van der Poel halves backlog in standings

Van der Poel remained firmly pushing yourself. ’t Was not just a matter for the opposition to hold them off, but to his disadvantage in the standings on the leader Toon Aerts to reduce. That worked out well. That last defended for the start, a clue of two minutes. Finally held Aerts less than a minute.

The victory was again a prey for Van der Poel, who is the new favorite (or was he already?) to the DVV Verzekeringen Trophy to win. The robbertje for the second place was won by Van Aert. On more than a minute of Van der Poel. Aerts finished third. Michael Vanthourenhout and Laurens Sweeck made the top five completely.
