When the big clubs are throwing around money in search of reinforcements, it happens once in a while, to spent so much money, that it is illegal.
There are rules on financial fair play (FFP), ultra-short told is that a club must have positive equity and even to serve themselves out of the negative numbers and must not be provided with the capital from a rich owner.
The requirements have AC Milan failed to live up to and the european football federation, UEFA, has therefore awarded the club a fine of 90 million Danish kroner. In addition, the club was threatened with a season’s quarantine from the european competitions, if the club’s fodboldforretning not get black numbers on the bottom line by the summer of 2021.
The quarantine will then be executed in the seasons 2022/23 or 2023/24 – if it were to succeed the club to qualify to play in Europe.
Milan was last year, a fine of 150 million dollars and quarantined from playing in the Europa League. But since the club shortly after was taken over by new owners, who gave the club extra capital, was the quarantine lifted of the international court of arbitration for sport, CAS.
This time the Milan also appeal the verdict to the CAS. The club have not reported anything out of it yet.
AC Milan was on Thursday eliminated in the Europa Laegue after losing 3-1 to the Greek Olympiakos.
