The Automobile Club de l’Ouest unveiled the calendar for the new season on the Friday before the 24 Hours of Le Mans as usual. There were no major changes made, as expected. The biggest question was about the Italian round: would they stay longer in Imola or return to Monza? The decision was made to go with the first option.
As part of the deal, the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari has promised to improve the infrastructure in the paddock, including the construction of additional pit boxes. This must be completed before the WEC travels to Imola in April 2025, as the championship aims to expand the number of participants to forty. This season, the WEC raced in Imola due to renovation work in Monza, but the championship is not returning to the high-speed temple for now.
The WEC season of 2025 consists of eight events, following the same order as this year. Pierre Fillon, president of WEC co-organizer Automobile Club de l’Ouest, stated last month to Motorsport.com that there are no plans to expand from a cost perspective. The season begins at the end of February in Qatar, earlier than this year due to the earlier start of Ramadan. The Prologue takes place a week earlier.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans 2025 will take place on June 14 and 15. The usual test day will be held the Sunday before. Interestingly, there is now a clash with Formula 1, as the Canadian Grand Prix is also scheduled for that weekend. To make it even more complicated for the drivers, the IndyCar race is also happening at World Wide Technology Raceway that weekend. Dutch fans can look forward to the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on May 10.
The full calendar for the FIA World Endurance Championship 2025 has been revealed. This clash of schedules between the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Formula 1, and IndyCar will certainly make it challenging for fans and drivers to choose which event to follow or participate in.
