The Federation of Community Pharmacists (FSPF) announced Thursday that it had filed a strike notice for May 30 in order to “obtain more” within the framework of the current conventional negotiations with Health Insurance. “The budget that is on the table does not make it possible to finance all the pharmacies,” declared the president of the Federation of Pharmaceutical Unions of France (FSPF), Philippe Besset, during a press conference.

The FSPF therefore announces “a day of questioning of the population, of public authorities on all subjects affecting pharmacy”, which will be “a day of closure of pharmacies on May 30, with demonstrations organized throughout France” , he detailed.

Before this day of mobilization, a “guard strike organized locally by the unions will apply everywhere in the territory from Saturday May 18 to Monday May 20,” indicates for its part the Union of Unions of Community Pharmacists (USPO) in a statement. Pharmacists thus want to “draw attention to the challenges and dangers facing the profession” and defend access to care, according to the USPO which will also participate in the May 30 mobilization.

The proposal for revaluation by Health Insurance unveiled during the last multilateral meeting on Tuesday is “less” than the additional billion euros compared to 2019 that the FSPF hoped for the network in 2025.

A “counter-proposal for negotiation” was sent to Cnam on Wednesday, underlines Mr. Besset.

A response to this “counter-proposal” is expected early next week, added the official, saying he faces a dilemma.

“We will not reach the necessary budget but if we do not take what is on the table we will lose hundreds of additional pharmacies,” he explained, recalling that 46 pharmacies have closed since January, after 330 closures last year.

“We have chosen to propose a fighting signature, to go to the end, to try by all means to convince the public authorities and Health Insurance of the urgent need to go further in the revaluations” , he added.

The community pharmacy branch has 130,000 employees, a figure comparable to that of private clinics.
