The Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr won the super-G in Kvitfjell in Norway on Sunday, postponing by a few weeks the probable coronation in the discipline of the Swiss star Marco Odermatt who calmly continued to head straight towards his 3rd crystal globe.

With bib No. 8, the 32-year-old Austrian skier, double world champion, finished ahead of the Canadian Jeffrey Read (17/100th) and, tied, the Italian Dominik Paris and Marco Odermatt (19/100th), in difficult weather conditions.

After scoring his first podium of the winter in downhill on Saturday, Kriechmayr skied very cleanly on a track that was significantly shortened due to poor visibility at the top of the route and the risk of frost for the skiers’ masks.

Odermatt, who had to finish first or second on Sunday to secure the little super-G crystal globe, had an average passage marked by several small technical errors, but fast enough to set the 3rd time of the day.

With another 81 points ahead of today’s winner, Marco Odermatt should be able to seal his super-G title during the World Cup finals in Saalbach (Austria) from March 16 to 24.

Despite his mixed performance, the Swiss, who has already won ten victories this winter, mainly in giants where he has been undefeated for almost a year, continued to head straight towards his third big crystal globe.

In the general classification, he now has more than double the points (1,602) of his French runner-up Cyprien Sarrazin (684), who was out this weekend after being injured in training.

If the suspense therefore almost no longer exists in super-G and in the general classification, it remains in the downhill.

Thanks to his seventh place on Saturday, “Odi” gained 36 additional points in the world ranking of the discipline, bringing his lead over Cyprien Sarrazin to only 42 points.

Everything will therefore be decided in Saalbach, a victory bringing one hundred points. However, it remains to be seen whether the 29-year-old French revelation, author of an incredible double in Kitzbühel in mid-January and now injured in his left calf, will have returned to his best level.
