Dionysus’ tour falls through. Mathias Malzieu, the singer of the group, broke his leg after a sensational entrance on stage Tuesday evening in Nîmes. The concert, supposed to inaugurate the group’s thirty-year tour, was canceled. Those of February 14 and 15, in Grenoble and Dijon, suffered the same fate.

“It was the smallest concert in history,” joked Mathias Malzieu in an Instagram story. Le Midi Libre, present at the time of the events, looks back on what happened: “When he entered the room through the back door, he cut through the crowd in an extravagant red outfit and he jumped on stage, we said to ourselves that Malzieu was going to blow our minds and ears.” But seconds later, the singer was on the ground shouting “I broke my leg”! The music was cut off and Mathieu Malzieu was taken to the emergency room. The other members of the group returned to the stage, promising that they would “do everything to come back” and postpone this date. On his Instagram account, the singer made the same promise, explaining that he suffered from a “double fracture”.

On Facebook, the Dijon venue, which was to host Dionysos two days later, affirmed that “the tickets will remain valid for the postponed date or, for those who cannot attend, fully refundable at your point of sale from the announcement of the postponement date.

The group is scheduled to perform on February 27, 28 and 29 in Brussels, Luxembourg and Nancy. The dates have not yet been canceled.
