Currently present on the Tour of Spain with his training Arkéa Samsic, Hugo Hofstetter is competing in one of his last races with the jersey of the Breton team on his shoulders. Indeed, the Frenchman will leave the team he joined in 2022. Like his future ex-teammate Warren Barguil, who joined the DSM-Firmenich, it is in his former team that the winner of the Tro Bro Leon 2022 decided to sign for two years. Hofstetter will return to the ranks of Israel-Premier Tech. Passed by the Israeli team in 2020 and 2021, the Alsatian had lived two good seasons which revealed him within the latter, marked in particular by his success on Le Samyn and his top 5 on stages of the Tour de France, the Tour of Poland and Paris-Nice.
“I am very happy to return to Israel-Premier Tech next year. I really appreciate that Sylvan (Adams, the team owner, editor’s note) wants to see me back in the team, it’s a huge motivation for me. I will do my best to win as many races as possible. It will also be great to see my old teammates again, I have always enjoyed riding with them. I can’t wait to be in 2024”, declared the one who will leave a well-stocked training in sprinters with the arrival of Arnaud Démare.
Israel Premier-Tech sports manager Rik Verbrugghe was delighted with the arrival. Thanks to the Frenchman, who remains one of the most consistent sprinters in the peloton, the pro-team team hopes to return to the WorldTour in 2026, for which it needs UCI points. “We are very happy that Hugo (Hofstetter) is returning to Israel–Premier Tech. Not only is he a fast sprinter, but he will also significantly strengthen our Classics group. He is able to score points in one-day races, but also during sprint finishes. Hugo will also bring experience to our young people from the Israel-Premier Tech Academy team and he will be able to integrate perfectly into the trains of our leaders on the biggest races.
