He is the most irreducible cantor of Occitania. Continuing his fight for the culture of the Pays d’Oc, Francis Cabrel has composed a new song Un Morceau de Sicre, a tribute to his friend Claude Sicre, the founder of the folk music group, the Fabulous Trobadors.

This tribute song will be published on own account by Baboo Music, a family label born in the village of Astaffort where Francis Cabrel has his ties and of which he was a municipal councilor from 1989 to 2004. This title like no other will be released in 45 rpm vinyl and will be accompanied by a clip directed by the composer. The cover of the disc, also imagined and designed by the Occitan troubadour in person, will exhibit the flight of a bird, symbol of freedom, in the sky of a landscape in the south-west of France.

In a Morceau de Sicre Francis Cabrel not only wanted to magnify Claude Sicre’s talent as a transmitter, but he also, in his own nostalgic vein, wanted to tell about his bohemian life as a young poet in the streets of Toulouse. In the press release, he tells why he chose the Pink City as the setting for his song: “It is a tribute to this important city for me. Between rue Caraman and rue Matabiau, I sang and recorded my first songs there.”
