Prince back seven years after his death? The news might seem absurd and yet, the prince of pop will indeed return to the front of the stage this fall. American bi-monthly Rolling Stone has announced that a reissue of its iconic album Diamonds and Pearls (1991) is scheduled for October 27.

Three different formats will be offered: the remastered single album (1 CD / Double vinyl), the Deluxe edition with unreleased tracks (2 CD / 4 vinyl) and the Super Deluxe edition. The latter should satisfy any Prince fan. It will include fifteen remixes and B-sides recorded in the 1990s, 33 unreleased tracks from the artist’s archives, including alternative versions of tracks from the album. The recording of a concert by the singer in Minneapolis in 1992 will also be included. Everything will be spread over seven CDs and twelve vinyls.

The original version of Diamonds and Pearls was released in 1991. This ninth album by Prince – the thirteenth counting film scores – was a real commercial success. It had sold over 4.5 million copies and reached number three on the US Billboard 200. This project was also an opportunity for Prince to introduce New Power Generation, the group of musicians, singers and dancers who accompanied him until his death in 2016.
