World time trial champion, Remco Evenepoel was very upset, after the inaugural team time trial of the Vuelta, this Saturday. In Barcelona, the weather conditions were particularly complicated at the time of the race. The rain made the bends more dangerous than usual but it was above all the darkness that infuriated Evenepoel, who called the organization “ridiculous”. Indeed, the world champion hit the road at 8:19 p.m., as night fell.

“You have all day to do a time trial. Rain is rain, you are already risking a lot. It’s ridiculous when it’s so dark. Organizers should think about security. We couldn’t see anything. You can’t run like that,” said the Belgian after the race. It was the DSM of Romain Bardet, who took over the stage thanks to favorable weather conditions.
