Lazio Rome prepared for the reception of Bayern Munich in the round of 16 of the Champions League by returning to victory in Cagliari (3-1) thanks to Ciro Immobile’s 200th goal in the Italian Championship on Saturday. Lazio took the lead in the 26th minute with a cross from Gustav Isaksen propelled into his own goal by Alessandro Deiola. Returning from the locker room, Immobile doubled the bet and entered the exclusive club of players to have scored 200 goals in Serie A, by sliding the ball into the Sardinian goal despite a very tight angle (49th).

Cagliari immediately reduced the score (51st) with a shot into the top corner from Gianluca Gaetano, before Felipe Anderson (65th) added a third goal for Lazio and definitely disgusted the promoted side.

“This victory is important for the team against a great Cagliari team and for me, this 200th goal is a super important milestone. I am very proud when I remember where I started,” Immobile said on the DAZN platform. “To score 200 goals in one of the best championships in the world is something strong,” underlined the Italian international who is the eighth player in history, the only one currently active, to reach this figure.

“My goal is to go as high as possible, I have no goals to score,” insisted the 33-year-old striker who co-holds the goals record (36 in 2019-20) in a Serie A season. Lazio, which remained with a draw and a defeat, temporarily moved from 9th to 6th place with 37 points.

The Roman club, one of the three Italian teams still competing in C1, hosts Bayern next Wednesday at the Olympic Stadium in the round of 16 first leg of the competition. For its part, Cagliari remains 19th (18 pts) a length from 17th place, synonymous with maintenance, occupied by Udinese who played one match less.
