American Gabby Thomas set the fastest time in the 200m semi-finals ahead of Jamaican Shericka Jackson, defending champion, at the World Athletics Championships on Thursday in Budapest.
Thomas, holder of the best world performance of the season (21.60), completed the half-lap in 21 sec 97 (wind: -0.1m/s), three hundredths faster than Jackson (22.00, wind: – 0.2m/s).
The new queen of the 100m, the American Sha’Carri Richardson, also qualified for the final by taking the second qualifying place of her semi-final, the same as Jackson, in 22 sec 20. The final is scheduled for Friday evening.
