A new weapon against the heat wave? Invited in the morning of France Inter this Thursday, the new Minister of Housing, Patrice Vergriete, said he was in favor of an evolution of the provisions Ma Prime Rénov ’to better cope with high heat. “Overseas there are measures to apply Ma Prime Rénov to adapt to the heat wave. If we relied on the experience of the Overseas to generalize it to the metropolis?”, suggested the minister.

In mainland France, the MaPrimeRénov’ energy renovation aid scheme exclusively finances work aimed at protecting housing against the cold. Residents of Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique, Reunion or Mayotte have the possibility of carrying out a certain number of arrangements to protect their accommodation from the heat: ventilated over-roof, solar protection of the roof, individual solar water heater. ..

The eligibility of this work for the bonus is for the moment strictly reserved for overseas territories. But all French owners could soon have access to it, according to Patrice Vergriete. “I am for the generalization of overseas measures, because in mainland France we may need a tool to adapt to the heat wave (…). I will work in this direction, ”assured the minister.

During the interview, Olivier Klein’s successor was also asked about the housing crisis that the country is going through: lack of social housing, dilapidated condition of certain urban districts, breakdown of rental housing… “We must remobilize all housing stakeholders to develop a fairer housing policy,” defended the minister. He thus announced “to work on a device which will make it possible to mobilize the professional investors on the rental investment”.
