Visma-LaB’s Tour Hope Dashed by Team UAE’s Pogacar’s Dominance
As the Tour de France draws near, Visma-Lease a Bike is still plagued with doubts about their two biggest stars. Both Wout van Aert and Jonas Vingegaard are still recovering from their crashes, raising concerns about their ability to compete against Tadej Pogacar on time.
The Slovenian leader of UAE Team Emirates is in top form, having recently claimed victory in the Giro d’Italia. It seems that Pogacar is determined to continue his winning streak into the Tour de France.
Marc Madiot, the team manager at Groupama-FDJ, expressed his lack of surprise at Pogacar’s performance, stating, “There is nothing surprising about it. We knew he would outshine the rest. There was no competition.”
However, doubts loom over Vingegaard’s ability to challenge Pogacar this year. Madiot believes that we may not witness an intense battle between the two in the upcoming Tour de France. He predicts that if Pogacar maintains his Giro performance, he will likely dominate the Tour as well.
With Pogacar’s current form, the path to a Tour victory seems wide open for him. Will Visma-LaB be able to overcome the obstacles and put up a fight against the reigning champion? Only time will tell.
