The former prefect of Calvados Thierry Mosimann has been appointed security coordinator for the Paris-2024 Olympic Games, after the resignation in June of Ziad Khoury following a report for “inappropriate behavior”, according to a decree published Friday in the Official newspaper.
“By order of the Minister of the Interior and Overseas Territories dated August 11, 2023, Mr. Thierry Mosimann, State administrator of the transitional grade, is appointed national coordinator for the security of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, at from August 21, 2023”, is it written.
Ziad Khoury had been suspended on March 21 “as a precaution” for the time of an administrative investigation, had indicated the Ministry of the Interior. The former prefect of the departments of Haute-Saône and Aisne, 53, had been the subject of a report for inappropriate remarks towards a woman during a trip to London in December 2021 according to the ministry of l ‘Interior.
According to a source familiar with the matter, the inspection mission judged that there was “no reason” to make a report to the French justice, “in complete independence and with regard to the elements which were in its possession at the time of its findings”. But, according to the same source, there were other testimonies against Ziad Khoury during this inspection mission. Before taking up the duties of national coordinator for the security of the Olympic Games-2024 in June 2021, Mr. Khoury had notably managed security during the Euro-2016 football tournament in France.
