Joris Segonds is getting closer to a future in the Basque Country. At the end of the contract at the end of the new season which begins this Friday evening (Bayonne – Toulouse, 9:05 p.m.), it seems that the former opening half of Aurillac will not extend his adventure in the capital. Segonds (26 years old) would be according to the information revealed today by Midi Olympique, in advanced contacts for several weeks with Bayonne.

While he is unlikely to be retained by Stade Français, the No. 10 has already met with sky and white president Philippe Tayeb last April, proof of the Basques’ long-standing interest. Bayonne would like to jump at the chance and make him a new member of its workforce from the summer of 2024, for a long-term project.

The Aveyronnais could then succeed Camille Lopez under contract with Bayonne until the end of this season, or even collaborate with him, insofar as the 34-year-old left-hander has an additional year as an option in his contract. “Given his performance, it seems to me that it will be lifted” had launched the Bayonne president at the end of June.
