Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed on Friday that his star striker Harry Kane’s move to Bayern Munich was “imminent”.
The amount of the transaction is estimated at 100 million euros plus 20 million euros in bonuses, which would make the captain of the England team the most expensive signing in the history of the Bundesliga and Bayern. “From what I understand, the situation has progressed to such a point that it seems that it will happen,” said the Spurs coach at a press conference, ending a relative suspense.
At least, “it makes things clearer and we move forward without Harry”, added the technician. “The information I have at the moment is that the transfer is imminent,” he insisted, without however confirming a final agreement.
According to English and German media, Kane was due to travel to Munich and undergo his medical examination, but the departure of his plane, initially scheduled for early morning, was delayed due to last minute negotiations.
Asked about the situation earlier on Friday, Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed advanced discussions but clarified that in “the current state”, there was “no agreement”. “You probably know more than me. We are working hard on the subject, it’s no secret, ”explained Tuchel at a press conference, on the eve of facing RB Leipzig (Saturday, 8:45 p.m.) in the German Supercup.
Harry Kane, England’s all-time top scorer (58 goals), scored 280 goals in 435 appearances for Tottenham, but failed to win any major trophies with the North London club.
