Caroline Wozniacki has chosen the WTA tournament in Montreal to make her return to competition after more than three years of absence and two maternity wards. The Dane was beaten in the second round by Marketa Vondrousova (10th) this Wednesday evening in 1h46: 6-2, 7-5. The 33-year-old player, who was world No.1 in 2010 and winner of the Australian Open in 2018, took the first step on the road to her comeback on Tuesday, beating the modest Australian Kimberly Birrell (115th in the world) 6-2, 6-2. But the comeback stumbled on the second, still too high for her, represented by Marketa Vondrousova, champion at Wimbledon. Wozniacki however had his chance in the second set. Led 6-2, 3-0 by the Czech, she then regained the upper hand, winning four games to lead 4-3, and even obtained a break point to break away 5-3. Before finally giving in to the Czech.
