The race turned tragic. The wheel of a car came off on Sunday August 6 around 3:45 p.m. in a curve of a racing circuit in Chambon-sur-Lac (Puy-de-Dôme) before violently hitting the head of a spectator during the race coast of Mont-Dore, report La Montagne and France Bleu. The precise circumstances of the tragedy are not yet known. Race organizer Philibert Michy told La Montagne that this 23-year-old spectator was “in an area prohibited to the public” at the time of the accident.

The young woman was unconscious when the organizers arrived who provided first aid. She was subsequently transported to Clermont-Ferrand hospital by an SAMU helicopter. This Sunday evening, Philibert Michy assured that “the latest news is reassuring” and that the days of the young woman are not in danger. Likewise, the pilot was not injured in the accident.

The race was interrupted and an investigation was entrusted to the gendarmerie brigade of Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise.
