Marie-Divine Kouamé, who was the reigning world champion in the 500m, was eliminated in qualifying on Friday at the Track Cycling Worlds in Glasgow.

After a first disappointment with the speed team eliminated in qualifying on Thursday, the French experienced another failure on the Chris Hoy velodrome.

Kouamé, who had ignited the ring of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines last year, site of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, took only the tenth time in qualifying for the 500m, a non-Olympic event, on Friday, failing to qualify for the final.

He now has the keirin and the individual speed to try to save a disappointing record for the moment on these Worlds.

Julie Michaux is also eliminated with the 20th time.

In the team pursuit, the French ensured by taking the fourth fastest time in qualifying behind Great Britain, New Zealand and the United States.
