Special Envoy to Marcoussis
What state of mind are you in for this preparation? Louis Bielle-Biarrey: I want to show everything I can do in training to have zero regrets. I dare in the game because the worst thing that could happen to me would be not to try anything and regret it in the end.
Is it hard to find a place when you’re the youngest, the newest in the group? Yes and no. The group is really great. The guys really put us at ease, help us a lot, including those who are in the same position, in direct competition with me. I feel good, even if everything is going very fast. I don’t realize everything yet. But everyone is trying to integrate us as well as possible with Emilien (Gailleton).
What is your relationship with him? With Emilien, we’ve been following each other for a while. We live it very well. We encourage each other a lot, on and off the pitch. He pulls me up. And if we have the opportunity to share our first selection with Emilien, it will be a nice moment.
This should be the case this Saturday in Edinburgh… We want to be there against Scotland, of course. But I’m waiting for confirmation on Wednesday evening…
Are you frustrated not to have played in the recent World U 20 won by Les Bleuets, your teammates a few weeks ago? To begin with, I’m super happy for them. A lot of them are friends… I had a little twinge in my heart the first few days. But I have the chance to participate in the preparation to play the biggest event of my career. Even if I felt a new pinch in my heart not to win this World Cup with my colleagues…

If you had to go to a job interview to convince the coach, what would you say? I’m not comfortable answering that. I’m more comfortable on the pitch (laughs)… I would say play carefree and show my speed qualities.
How will you feel when you are first selected? Very proud. And a lot of desire to enjoy. To have a good game. Lots of excitement. It’s weird just thinking about it… Having the opportunity to be part of the 42 shows that I’ve never been so close. The day of my first selection, an additional level will be crossed.
Everything is going fast for you… It’s been going very fast for two or three years for me. I’m getting used to it (smile).
So you’re ready to make the cut and be one of the 33 players selected to play in the World Cup on August 21? If I’m here, I have a chance. Like all the players who participate in this preparation. It will depend on my performance on the field. It’s up to me to make the best match possible to show myself. Being part of the 33, I necessarily think about it. But that will only depend on me. Of my matches. I mainly focus on what I can do on the pitch. I know everything will flow from that.
