As so often in recent times, Johnny Depp returns to the heart of the news. Small nuance this time, the American actor is not linked to a controversy. Better yet, the interpreter of the pirate Jack Sparrow works for the good cause. After drawing a series of four paintings entitled Friends and Heroes in 2021, the star returns, brush in hand, with a self-portrait. The biggest fans of the actor will notice that the work is inspired by a shoot carried out by Jean-Baptiste Mondino for a perfume brand. On the canvas, five sticks to the right of the slightly revisited face of the artist. They give their name to the creation – Five – and symbolize, if we are to believe the sales site, the five difficult years he went through between 2016 and 2021. From lawsuits to controversy, the icon of the nineties was not spared.

The work has recently been exhibited in the UK at Castle Fine Art. The serigraphs taken from it are available for purchase on the art gallery’s website until August 1st. Each satin paper reproduction, made to order, is hand-signed by Johnny Depp and delivered in a portfolio “handcrafted and made of the finest materials,” according to the announcement.

The serigraphs are sold in the United States for 1950 dollars (1770 euros) and 200 will be donated to Mental Health America, a non-profit organization dedicated to mental health, well-being and disease prevention. But beware, it will cost you 1950 pounds (2270 euros) if you are English and even 2500 euros for buyers from the European Union.
