This is partly why the French Football Federation (FFF) gave the keys to Les Bleues to Hervé Renard. The French team dominated Brazil on Saturday (2-1) in their second of three World Cup group stage matches, taking a big step towards the knockout stages. The FFF has published a video behind the scenes of Les Bleues before, during and after the meeting.

In the video of the FFF available on YouTube, we thus witness the talk of Hervé Renard, two hours before kick-off. “Football is to be present on D-Day. And today I know that you are going to be present”, launched Renard, pacing in the locker room. “All the work you have done is perfect. And I can say it in front of everyone,” encouraged the 54-year-old coach.

Hervé Renard notably prepared his players for the fact that the stadium in Brisbane (Australia) would be largely won over to the cause of Brazil. “Even if it’s Brazilians, the stadium is all yellow, it stimulates me,” said Renard, gradually raising his voice. “Free yourself, dare,” he urged.

Hervé Renard had already made people talk about him through a galvanizing speech, during the Men’s World Cup in November 2022. He then led Saudi Arabia, which had brought down future world champion Argentina (1-0). “I don’t like to see myself in this state on the screen,” he told us. France’s next match at the Women’s World Cup will be against Panama on Wednesday at noon metropolitan France time. A win or a draw will be enough to qualify for the knockout stage.
