In the Assembly, the government reshuffle has redistributed certain cards. Particularly for the deputies of the relative majority. On Wednesday, several internal ballots for the Renaissance group took place at the same time. They took place electronically, remotely, the parliamentarians no longer being at the Palais Bourbon since the end of the extraordinary session last week.
The most essential of these elections, for the presidency of the majority group, ended without much surprise in the large victory of the deputy for Paris Sylvain Maillard, against his colleague from Val-de-Marne, Frédéric Descrozaille. He therefore succeeds Aurore Bergé, appointed Minister of Solidarity.
Another appointment for the less important: that of Charlotte Parmentier-Lecocq. The member for the North, who has already held several important responsibilities on bills since her arrival at the Palais Bourbon in June 2017, was appointed by the elected representatives of her camp to be the candidate of the Renaissance group, at the start of the school year, during the election for the presidency of the prestigious social affairs commission. A post previously occupied by Fadila Khattabi, appointed last week Minister for Persons with Disabilities. And who should therefore return, barring a big surprise, to the Renaissance candidate, as was the case in June 2022.
Finally, in the third ballot, the deputy of the Vosges David Valence was nominated by his fellow candidates to head the delegation to local authorities and decentralization. A post left vacant by the macronist Thomas Cazenave, appointed Minister of Public Accounts a few days ago. David Valence faced seven candidates and he won in the second round against the elected Maine-et-Loire, Stella Dupont. As for the post of chairman of the social affairs committee, this responsibility will be assigned at the start of the next school year and open to deputies from all the other political parties of the Palais Bourbon.
