Australian Samuel Short became world champion in the 400m freestyle on Sunday in Fukuoka (Japan) ahead of Tunisian Ahmed Hafnaoui. Samuel Short, 19, won his first world title with a time of 3:40.68, only two hundredths ahead of Hafnaoui, 20, who set a new African record over the distance. The German Lukas Märtens, world champion in Rome in 2022, takes third place.
