This 20th stage of the Tour is special for Thibaut Pinot. This is his last mountain stage on the Great Loop before retiring at the end of the season. But it is also special for Marc Madiot, the sports director of Groupama-FDJ, who has hatched Pinot since his arrival in the team in 2010.
The latter, questioned by the press about his foal, could not finish his sentences as he was overwhelmed by emotions. “No doubt” are the only words that came out of Madiot’s mouth when the RMC Sport journalist asked him if he was moved on the sidelines of the stage.
