New Zealand signed the first victory in its history in a World Cup, Thursday against Norway Ada Hegerberg (1-0) in Auckland, opening the Women’s World Cup that the archipelago organizes with Australia.
Striker Hannah Wilkinson scored the only goal of the match (48th). The game was preceded by a minute’s silence as a shootout left three people dead, including the shooter, in the center of the New Zealand city hours before kick-off.
