Coincidence. On the night of Monday to Tuesday, Enzo, behind the Twitter account @lockedinfr (11,600 subscribers), launched a call to go train the next day. The meeting is given on the Quai Charles Pasquat, in Levallois-Perret, a well-known spot for local basketball players. Enzo says: “I have just moved from Marseille where I used to have my habits and my life was punctuated by basketball. When I arrived in Paris, I wanted to play. It was itchy.”
Anxious to create positive with basketball by using virtual community, Enzo arrived, alone, shortly before the appointment fixed at 2:30 p.m., on the outdoor field. But as he approached: “There was a Mercedes Viano and a bodyguard near the pitch,” says Enzo, who saw Rudy Gobert exit the vehicle moments later. The Minnesota Timberwolves pivot was in the capital after spending time at his summer basketball camp, based in Saint-Quentin (Aisne).
“It was a crazy coincidence! He arrived on the ground where young people were playing. He offered to go 1 on 1. I had three tries against him. He had to stay an hour with everyone, then he shot some images with the young people from his basketball camp, ”says Enzo. The latter, who posted a photo with Rudy Gobert on Twitter during Gobert’s burst “drove people crazy”, as he explains: “They all thought I had planned a surprise by bringing Rudy Gobert back, But not at all ! It was just a huge coincidence!”
Problem, if any: the players who had responded to Enzo’s call on Twitter could not see the French international: “They arrived a little later, around 3 p.m. and they missed Gobert”, summarizes Enzo. All of them ended up doing some exercises before playing. Moral of the story: better not be late.
