Exit the price shield, electricity prices are on the rise again. The Ministries of Economy and Energy Transition announced on Tuesday July 18 a 10% increase, starting August 1. What agitate the opposition, in the forefront of which the leader of the RN deputies in the National Assembly Marine Le Pen. “I had alerted to the lies of Bruno Le Maire when he swore that there would be no catching up on bills in 2023”, recalled the elected official from Nord-Pas-de-Calais. His right arm and president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, denounces for his part “a lie, one more in an endless list” that the “French will pay”.

La Nupes, too, has stepped up. “After gorging themselves with superprofits, the energy companies send the bill to the people. And Macron agrees,” tweeted the coordinator of insubordinate France (LFI) Manuel Bompard. The president of the rebellious deputies in the National Assembly Mathilde Panot castigates “a government as useless against inflation as against climate change”. More specifically, the MP for Val-de-Marne denounces a 10% increase in electricity prices while “the minimum wage will only increase by 2%”. “The energy market is shit. We have to get out of it, ”added the rebellious deputy from the North Adrien Quatennens.

Among the Socialists, the first secretary Olivier Faure declared on Twitter: “Never take seriously the commitments of this government” while the deputy Bertrand Petit points the finger at the liberalization of the market. “Private intermediaries are rubbing their hands and the French suffer. What injustice! So that’s the balance sheet of the government’s 100 days for appeasement?” he adds.

Same story from the side of the national secretary of the Communist Party (PCF) Fabien Roussel who deplores a new “attack against our purchasing power which impacts families, VSEs”. And to abound: “A scandal of liberalism which has force-fed private suppliers. The 1.6 billion fine must be returned to us!”
