French technology group Thales announced on Wednesday that it has entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire Cobham Aerospace Communications (AeroComms), a company providing safety communication systems for cockpits, for 1.1 billion dollars (1 billion euros) .
Based in Rungis, near Paris, Cobham Aerospace Communications is presented in a Thales press release as “one of the main suppliers of airborne avionics systems in the fields of satellite communications, audio/radio management, antennas, lights , clocks and human-machine interfaces”.
The company, which employs ~690 people including ~190 engineers, currently operates in France, South Africa, the United States/Canada and Denmark. The company should achieve a turnover of 200 million dollars in 2023.
