The mythical club of Sochaux, founded in 1928, will find itself next season in National 3. L’Est Républicain and France Bleu affirm that the employees of the club have been informed of the catastrophic situation and the filing for bankruptcy to come. Downgraded to National, Sochaux must go before the DNCG on appeal on Tuesday (2:30 p.m.) and the latter should, according to information from France Bleu, not make a gift to the FCSM.
The Chinese shareholder Nenking, unable to raise the club, did not inject the ten million euros needed after the departure of around twenty players. 10 to 11 million euros have already been recovered after the sale of the majority of the workforce. Without a buyer capable of injecting at least 8 million euros, Sochaux will not be able to evolve into National and therefore know the N3 and the bankruptcy filing.
The misfortune of some is the happiness of others. The terrible situation of Sochaux could however benefit Annecy. Indeed, the LFP is awaiting the outcome of the case to decide and respect the club quotas provided for in each division.
Next season 20 clubs must compete in Ligue 2 and 18 must compete in National. For the moment with 19 clubs on each side the rule is not respected. Which means that to rebalance things, the League could look into the case of Annecy still angry after relegation to National (after the events between Bordeaux and Rodez on the last day of Ligue 2).
The Haut-Savoyards could be saved by fate and return to the second division at the end of an off-season with a crazy scenario.
