The New Zealand franchise of the Auckland Blues announced on Sunday the arrival of former Scotland and Fiji coach Vern Cotter as coach for two seasons.
Also passed by Clermont from 2006 to 2014, Cotter who had resigned last February from his position as Fiji coach, replaces Leon MacDonald, leaving next year to join the staff of the All Blacks as an assistant.
Cotter will be joined at the Blues by Jason O’Halloran, who previously worked with the 61-year-old New Zealander during his time in charge of Scotland between 2014 and 2017.
The Blues, recently beaten 52-15 in the Super Rugby semi-final by future champions Crusaders, have not won this competition since 2003.
