The English Tennis Federation (LTA) has announced that the first semi-final of the ATP tournament on grass in Eastbourne, interrupted by rain as Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo led 2-6, 7-5, 5-2 against the ‘American Mackenzie McDonald, would not resume on Friday.
McDonald, who led 6-2, 4-1 for a while, had to serve when the game was abandoned, and after repeatedly pushing back the game resumption schedule, the LTA finally gave up.
The second semi-final, which was to take place immediately after, will pit Frenchman Grégoire Barrère against another American, Tommy Paul. The LTA has not yet clarified whether the final, which was also scheduled to take place on Saturday, will be maintained or postponed to Sunday, as the Wimbledon tournament kicks off on Monday.
