As he hinted in April, Quentin Bigot will not compete in the next World Athletics Championships in Budapest (Hungary, August 19-27). The hammer thrower is primarily targeting the Paris Olympics in 2024. He had back surgery last January due to a herniated disc. “I have a lot of work to get back to my level,” he told L’Équipe on Wednesday.
Bigot, vice-world champion in 2019, finished 4th last year in Eugene (United States). He could participate in meetings in August “to keep one foot in the stirrup”. The 29-year-old Lorrain ranked 5th at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 with a throw of 79.39 meters. His personal best dates from May 2022: 80.55 meters.
