The group created fifteen years ago by three childhood friends, Mylène Madrias, Jérémy Pauly and Sébastien Gourseyrol, announced its separation in an interview with Parisian. The singer and co-founder of the group, Mylène Madrias is behind this decision “I’m stopping this lovely adventure. I will leave them at the end of the tour which starts and will continue in 2024”, she confided to our colleagues.
The 35-year-old singer, who wishes to pursue her solo career, adds: “I have different desires and I need to take time for myself. It’s not a question of success. Artistically, I have to go scratch a little further to be sure to be fulfilled. A choice that does not offend the other members of the group, who ensure “first think about our health and our friendship”. “She was talking about it, and we promised each other that if one of us was no longer having fun, we would let go,” explains Jérémy Pauly.
The group enjoyed dazzling success in the summer of 2018 with À nos Souvenirs, whose clip has been viewed nearly 260 million times, and was recently parodied by the Palmashow accompanied by comedian Laura Felpin. Their first album, Un air de rien became one of the best sellers of the year with 200,000 copies and sold 350,000 in all.
But this triumph has not always been easy for the three friends. “This success was as gentle as it was violent. This has created changes in our families, it is not always easy to manage, ”explains the singer. A success also tinged with mockery. “There has been misunderstanding and injustice. We made our first album in a small studio in Brive, we didn’t have the codes. We heard that the Parisian community did not like what we were doing, ”she continues.
After the success of À nos souvenirs, the group began a Zenith and festival tour in 2019, before releasing two other albums with more modest repercussions, despite a collaboration with Jean-Jacques Goldman. What will become of Trois Cafés Gourmands? Sébastien Gourseyrol and Jérémy Pauly do not yet have a clear vision of the future. “We don’t know, we are waiting for this episode to pass,” Sébastien Gourseyrol told France Bleu, while his friend assures us that he “still wants to make music”.
