Nicknamed “the beast from the East”, Lithuanian international footballer Karolis Chvedukas died on Monday June 19 at the age of 32. The causes of the player’s death remain unexplained.

Figure in Lithuania, the man with 20 selections with Lithuania had made his supporters happy a few months ago by returning to play for the club of Marijampole, his hometown. Chveduskas is best known for having a career in Northern Ireland as he played at Dundalk and Waterford.

Lithuania learned this news while preparing for qualifying for Euro 2024. The Lithuanian selection lost in Hungary on Tuesday evening (2-0) and advanced to 5th and last place in group G.
