After a long period of absence, the sacred music festival returns to Nice. The opportunity, twenty years later, to honor the death of Abbé Navarre who was canon of the Sainte Réparate Cathedral in Nice and musical director of the master’s degree. The first concert will mirror Gabriel Fauré’s requiem and Olivier dos Santos’ Missa Brevis 2021.

Born from confinement, this mass symbolizes the composer’s fascination with the organ repertoire and the grace of human voices. For the second concert, it is Jérôme Correas who will continue his collaboration with the musicians of the Philharmonic Orchestra by exploring the repertoire of Bach’s time and that of his brilliant contemporary, Handel. The first work written simultaneously in the three languages of the three great monotheistic religions, Latin, Hebrew and Arabic, Laurent Couson’s Requiem XIX, which presents the theme of the myth of Babel, will be honored for this third concert.

The festival of sacred music will finally close with Noah’s Ark by Benjamin Britten, a participatory opera that the project managers, Éric Oberdorff and Frédéric Deloche, will treat on the oh so resonant topic of the environment, for young and old.
