The French knocked down the number one seed, in the 2nd round of the ‘s-Hertogenbosch tournament in Rosmalen (Netherlands) Daniil Medvedev (world No. 3) in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 . Winner of the edition in 2019, Mannarino inflicted another premature defeat on Medvedev, already out in the first round of Roland-Garros against the Brazilian Thiago Seyboth-Wild. Val d’Oisien thus takes revenge on Medvedev, who beat them here in the semi-finals last year before losing in the final. Mannarino will face Canadian Milos Raonic or Australian Jordan Thompson in the next round.
To take the second set, the 52nd player in the world won an exceptional point after a rally with two lobes brought back by his opponent, before a passing forehand cross.
